Building scalable recovery infrastructure for Ukraine

For the past two months, we’ve been working inside a veteran hospital here in Ukraine. And one thing has become very clear – we need to scale recovery with the same intent that we scale defence.

We’ve launched a live proof of concept to gather real-world war trauma outcome data for Ministry of Health approval. The rehabilitation method we’re evaluating is already endorsed by some of New Zealand’s most senior executives, and we’ve recently received approval from the ACC to work on their most complex concussion cases.

We call it the BodyAudit.

So far, we’ve trained six therapists and installed our first BodyAuditorium – a standardized rehabilitation unit embedded inside the hospital. It delivers structured care, trains practitioners, and captures compliant outcome data.

Ukraine has around 2,200 hospitals. Our model can scale to 2,000 installations and 4,000 trained therapists – enabling treatment of more than one million patients each year. And with a year one cost of no more than $100 per head, that doesn’t just create cost effective impact. It also creates one of the largest trauma rehabilitation datasets in the world. We’re building scalable recovery infrastructure.

And we’re looking for partners to help deploy it nationally.

We are Chrisalla

We protect and share the life’s work of our founder, Chris Toal – an innovator whose compassion and relentless curiosity gave birth to an entirely new approach to healing. Every technique and instrument is the result of decades of experience, deep study, and a commitment to restoring not just bodies, but lives.

Our origins are deeply personal. They trace back through Chris’s own journey of recovery, and countless hours refining a system that can bring the change, and the release needed to restore vitality – in even the most complex, long-standing injuries.

Our work has been tested in the hardest of human circumstances – in the rehabilitation of war-damaged bodies and souls in a nation torn apart. Against all odds, lives have been rebuilt. Suffering has been replaced by freedom. Hope has returned where it had been deemed irrecoverable.

Our mission is bold but simple: to create more BodyAuditors and BodyMasters – highly skilled practitioners who carry this gift forward, delivering release, recovery, and renewal to those who need it most.

It’s a movement of discovery and change, of healing and hope, a recognition of the unlimited potential that lies in over 8 billion unique and beautiful souls.

One people. One method. Hope for all.

The road to recovery begins with change

Every breakthrough begins with a turning point. For Chris Toal, co-founder of Chrisalla and inventor of the Chrisalla method, that moment came battered and bruised in the middle of the Tasman Sea.

In 1997, while racing across the Tasman Sea, Chris was battered by five days of storms that left him “bruised all over.” Deep tissue massage restored him — and sparked a lifelong passion for the body’s ability to heal.

As Chris trained in therapeutic massage, he also had to confront old injuries from his childhood years. These wounds weren’t only physical. They had shaped his behaviour, his relationships, and the way his body stored pain. Working through them opened the door to insights that would become the foundation of his life’s work.

Through years of personal recovery and clinical practice, Chris uncovered the body’s hidden language: how unresolved trauma embeds itself as engrams, how tight myofascia can lock pain in place for decades, and how the nervous system holds the key to both injury and release. Piece by piece, he developed a way to free the body from these traps — and to give people their lives back.

For nearly two decades, Chris’s company Wellness at Work provided therapy to some of the biggest names in business and sport, from Microsoft and IBM to Olympic athletes and America’s Cup sailors. But at the heart of it all was the same mission: to restore movement, release pain, and help people rediscover hope.

This mission became the Chrisalla Method: a complete system for restoring movement, releasing pain, and accelerating recovery — even in the most complex cases.

At its heart is the BodyAudit, our foundation treatment sequence that uses four unique Chrisalla tools in a precise order, refined over decades. This sequencing works with the body’s natural responses, finding and releasing restrictions that other approaches miss. From the very first BodyAudit to every follow-up session, the Chrisalla Method delivers what many call impossible: fast, measurable, life-changing results.

From war-damaged veterans to long-suffering pain patients, from elite athletes to everyday people, the Chrisalla Method has restored movement, rebuilt lives, and reignited hope where it was once lost.

The road to recovery starts here. And it starts with change.
